Gorillas are very peaceful creatures. They like to be left alone and rarely fight. However, some cartoons and films would make us think that they’re ferocious beasts, with tremendous strength that root out trees with a single hand and attack humans. Nothing farther from the truth. They are peaceful creatures who lead simple, natural lives.

However, it’s still fun to see those movies, as long as you take them for what they really are, a work of fiction that is meant to entertain, not educate. My favorite one is King Kong.

If you’ve never seen the movie King Kong, I recommend it. I specially like the first one, in black and white, even if the special effects look bad. That’s because it’s a classic and I love classics.

In fact, I loved the movie and the character so much, that I began to make King Kong drawings, just for fun. This was before I took drawing classes, so my King Kong drawings were nothing more than half organized doodles that people barely recognized. Nevertheless, I had fun making them, and I guess my mother preferred having me in my house doing King Kong drawings, than out on the street getting into trouble and hanging out with who knows who.

I guess my mom saw some potential in me (or maybe she was just tired of very, very bad King Kong drawings), as she offered to pay for drawing classes. I was very thrilled, and I accepted immediately. She did ask for two conditions. That I chose a different subject from time to time, and that she might ask me for a specific drawing if she wanted.

The drawing classes turned out to be more boring than I imagined at first. There was so much preparation before actually starting to draw that it made the whole thing look like a chore. When my mother asked me to practice, I would find any excuse to postpone it. I even did my homework first than practice.

I’m glad that I stayed though. With time, my drawings became better and better. When we were finally able to select what we wanted to draw, I reverted to my King Kong drawings. My teacher wasn’t very pleased with the theme, but she admitted that my King Kong drawings looked very nice.

In fact, my King Kong drawings were good enough that my mother even started to like them. When remakes of the film started to be shown on cinemas, she would show my King Kong drawings to my relatives, who weren’t really that impressed and preferred to talk about “serious” and “good” movies, like the Godfather.

I don’t draw anymore, but I appreciate and thank my mother for sending me to drawing classes. It was a part of my education that I’ll always remember.

Tattoo drawings are the ultimate form of expression in one’s bodies. They’re meant to represent a strong image, expression, concept, or idea. One that will stay with a person until he or she dies.

Because tattoos are mostly permanent, it’s important to review several tattoo drawings until finding one that you’re comfortable with, according to your personality, ideology, desired exposure, and budget.

Tattoos were created as symbols to identify and connect an individual with a group. The first tattoo drawings were rudimentary and consisted of a few lines engraved on the skin with sharp objects. They were painful but it was considered a ritual of coming of age to withstand that pain. After a while, tattoo drawings were created to differentiate status between individuals within a group. The higher a person was in the status ladder, the more complex his tattoos drawings had to be.

Later on, magical properties were attributed to tattoos. Several new types of tattoo drawings were created with as many different properties as there were needs in life. For example, there were tattoos that protected warriors from damage or gave them strength. Shamans and witch doctors wore tattoos that gave them healing and forecasting abilities. Hunters or hunters’ weapons were adorned with tattoo drawings that resembled the prey they were after, or the natural predator of the prey they were after. Sometimes tattoos were even used on animals, in order to identify them as property of someone.

Nowadays, tattoos aren’t considered to have magical properties, but nevertheless they’re attractive and some people consider them powerful symbols of expressions. For example, some people choose to express their love for a person through a tattoo with their initials. The idea behind it is that their love will last all their lives, since the tattoo can’t be removed easily. There are several tattoo drawings of initials to choose from. The range is almost as varied as texts fonts on a word processor.

Another common theme is beauty. A lot of people choose one from several tattoo drawings to decorate their bodies. Women tend to choose the lower part of the back, where the tattoo can be discreet or exposed according to the clothes that are worn. Some select the lower part of the calf as well.

Men, on the other hand, tend to select their arms or chests, since they allow them to show their muscles as well.

In fact, the tattoo industry is so important that a lot of people make a living by making and selling tattoo drawings, which are then imprinted on people who like them.
